RECAP OF THE “GREENO2 DIGITAL BRAINSTORMING” WEBINAR

“GREENO2 Digital Brainstorming” webinar took place on May 6th, 2024, bringing together experts and stakeholders to explore sustainability initiatives in higher education institutions through green roofs and community gardens.

Andrea Colantoni, GREENO2 Project Coordinator and Associate Professor at the University of Tuscia, Department of Agriculture and Forest Sciences, has organized this webinar to encourage the synergies between green roofs and urban gardens (GREENO2+GEnerACTOR projects), emphasizing their pivotal role in advancing environmental and social sustainability. Guided by Giorgio Scavino, participants engaged in interactive quizzes, delving into various aspects of urban agriculture governance and solutions.

Throughout the webinar, experts including Professors Fran Sanchez (University of Cádiz, Spain), Bogdana Nosova (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine), Andrea Petroselli (University of Tuscia, Italy), Przemysław Pawlak, Dr. Katarzyna Szyszko, and Dr. Krystian Cholaszczynski (Higher School of Social and Media Culture in Toruń, Poland) shared valuable insights, stressing the importance of collaboration, communication, and knowledge exchange in overcoming barriers to green roof implementation.

Technical challenges, financial constraints, and competence gaps emerged as focal points for intervention, with the GREENO2 Project poised to address these through a forthcoming e-learning pathway.

Participants were inspired by a compelling NPR video showcasing the transformative impact of green roofs, underscoring the potential for real-world success stories to drive positive change.

As we reflect on the webinar, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their invaluable contributions to this collaborative effort.

Together, we’ve taken significant strides towards fostering sustainable urban development, guided by principles of innovation, inclusiveness, and environmental stewardship.
