GREENO2 PROJECT SHOWCASED AT THE WORKSHOPS OF VI INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL IN POZNAŃ

The GREENO2 – Green Roofs in Higher Education Institutions as Sustainable Centers for Research, Participation, Environmental Awareness and O2 Generation project was featured during the VI International Summer School for Ph.D. students “Scientific Excellence – Origins, Research, Results”, hosted by Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, on October 20-23, 2025.

Representatives from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Unversity of Tuscia during their workshops presented the project’s ongoing achievements, engaging doctoral students in discussions on forward-looking approaches to environmental education and sustainability in academia.

GREENO2’s mission is to advance sustainable practices within urban higher education institutions, recognizing their key role in addressing societal challenges and supporting sustainable development. At the core of the project is the response to climate change through the promotion of green roofs as multifunctional spaces for research, student participation, and environmental awareness.

The initiative also contributes to strengthening students’ understanding of climate-related strategies by integrating innovative educational methods and tools into academic settings. Through the development of learning resources, awareness-raising frameworks, curricula, and collaborative activities, GREENO2 supports a more dynamic and practice-oriented approach to environmental education.

Participation in the Summer School workshops created valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge, reinforce international partnerships, and highlight the role of higher education in shaping sustainable futures.
