Green trees and bushes, grass, and flowers resembling wildflowers – all of these offer modern people a break from overwhelming information flows and help them focus on essential tasks. The phrase “green roofs”, used in large-scale international projects, can provide a pathway to reconnect with nature within the confines of a densely built urban environment.
The Educational and Scientific Institute of Journalism International Relations Office Department organized information days dedicated to the Erasmus+ GREENO2 Project “Green Roofs in higher education institutions as sustainable cEnters for research, participation, ENvironmental consciousness and O2 generation”). The project team, consisting of the Institute’s scholars, views its mission as promoting environmental practices in urban higher education institutions.
Students, staff, and visitors of the Institute expressed great interest in the detailed insights about green roofs, considering them a form of environmental protection and a factor for improving the well-being of everyone in greened spaces.
According to Anastasiia Volobuieva, Deputy Director for Research and Education (International Affairs) of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Journalism, “In modern understanding, an oasis can be a part of a building where many people study and work. Visiting such an oasis – a green roof – can help them maintain productivity, focus, energy, and resilience, as existing studies have already shown. This is something we urgently need today,” she said while presenting the results of the GREENO2 project.
