The new approaches in teaching and research of renewable energy response to climate changes in the academic community has been discussed during GREENO2 Transnational Project Meeting that took place in the University of Cadiz in Spain.

Erasmus+ KA220-HED Project entitled “Green Roofs in higher education institutions as sustainable centers for research, participation, ENvironmental consciousness and O2 generation” or briefly GREENO2 brought together the partners from five European universities and three NGO and research organization from Italy, Greece, Spain, Poland, Romania, and Ukraine.

The University of Tuscia was represented by Prof. Andrea Colantoni Erasmus+ KA220-HED GREENO2 Project Coordinator and Associate Professor at the Department of Agriculture and Forest Sciences, Prof. Andrea Petroselli, Associate Professor at the Department of Agriculture and Forest Sciences and the University of Tuscia Rector’s Delegate for Sustainability, and Dr. Carlo Contardo, the University of Tuscia Head of Mobility and International Cooperation Office.

Prof. Andrea Colantoni shown to the consortium the first draft of Curriculum Modules for English- language MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on ecology and sustainable development which is creating within the project. It will be an open educational online resource for students interested in green energy and climate changes issues. He also shared with colleagues his view on GREENO2 Mobile Application as the necessary tool to improve the learning and research process. GREENO2 Handbook concept has been presented by Prof. Andrea Petroselli to enrich Curriculum Modules of GREENO2 Online Course. According to the World Economic Forum, it is observed the employment boom in clean energy and green jobs are growing twice as fast as the number of workers with green skills. Thereby the Massive Open Online Course, Handbook, Mobile Application aim to improve renewable energy university education, and to train future professionals, answering to the job market demands.

The GREENO2 consortium members had an opportunity to analyze and discuss interim project results, and establish key priorities for the further project work. The University of Tuscia is the Erasmus+ KA220-HED GREENO2 Project coordinator. The International Project brought together 7 prestigious partners from 6 European countries such as: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine), University of Cádiz (Spain), Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Greece), Higher School of Social and Media Culture in Toruń (Poland), LIM Srl Unipersonale (Italy), Xenios Polis Culture, Science and Action (Greece), and SG Gripen Europe s.r.l. (Romania). The project was funded by the European Union for a total amount of cost of 400,000 Euros.

Project duration: 36 months – from 01 September 2023 to 31 August 2026.
